Hello and welcome to “Gina’s Room” at de Boerderij Bed
and Breakfast!
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gina Ten Pas, the only daughter of Ron and Kathy
Bandstra. I grew up with three older brothers who all married amazing women who are
now my dearest friends. My sister-in-laws and I each decorated our own room here
at de Boerderij. It was exciting and comical for us to see our personalities brought
out in each room. Anne’s room has a cottage feel with her own special touches — every
single item in that room took much contemplation by Anne’s perfect and precise taste.
Valerie’s luxurious and sophisticated room makes you want to relax in her soaking
tub and then curl up with one of your favorite novels. Jill’s traditional taste and
her beautiful dark wood furniture is enough to take your breath away. But I was the
daughter who had “first pick” as to which room I wanted to decorate. Although this
room has the smallest bathroom, the big beautiful window over-looking the rolling
hills was too gorgeous for me to overlook. For those of you considering a stay in
my room, plan on curling up in the gorgeous bedding, sleeping in and waking up to
my mom’s fantastic breakfast.
I have many fond memories of this house. It is where my mother grew up and where
I was raised. I even had my wedding reception in a brilliant white tent on the yard.
After Kyle (a CPA in Des Moines and "bookkeeper" for de Boerderij) and
I were married during the summer of 2002, I began the wonderful experience of decorating
my room. My mom thinks this room looks like my wedding dress — soft, delicate, and
romantic.
In addition to a memorable stay, you can look forward to my mom’s superb coffee (a
house blend made just for de Boerderij) and Dutch treats for a late night snack.
